Introduction to Heartworks Lomi Lomi

Lifetime

Welcome to Heartworks Lomi Lomi.  A traditional and sacred massage style for healing mind, body and soul that originated from the Hawaiian Islands.  This online course is an introduction to Heartworks Lomi Lomi but is not the full practitioner certification.  That said, if you follow all the lessons, and complete each step you will finish with a new and fresh outlook on life along with a 45 – 90 minute beautiful and flowing back body massage routine to use for yourself and the ones who’s hearts you wish to touch.

The course is intended for four categories of students:

  1. Those who are enrolled in/plan to enrol in one of our future full practitioner certified training courses.
  2. Those who are only interested in the video course as an introduction to massage and/or Hawaiian Healing and Philosophy.
  3. Those who have already completed Heartworks Level One with us or another school who wish to remember some of what they learned.
  4. People already practicing other healing arts who wish to transform their practice and add to their repertoire.

This course will greatly support you on your learning journey and in your life.  Learning Heartworks Lomi Lomi is much more than just a massage techniques training course.  It is a self development adventure.  Heartworks Lomi Lomi is a state of being, both for the giver and the receiver.  The healing Kahuna’s of Hawaii, meaning, the masters of tradition, the wise experts, and in this case we’re specifically referring to the Kahuna Lomi Lomi or Masters of Lomi Lomi, they knew that whenever someone presented to them with some kind of health issue or life challenge, there was always more to it than simply the symptom.  There was likely an imbalance of some nature, not only in the physical body or environment, but also in the emotional, mental and/or spiritual bodies too.  The Kahuna’s would have been trained originally as apprentices, often for many years under the guidance of a master.  They knew that in order to facilitate healing in others, they must be clean within themselves having deeply reflected on both the seen and the unseen aspects of existence.  Only then would their master grant permission for them to go out into the community as a facilitator of healing.  The apprenticeship process could take many years until a Kahuna deemed their apprentice ready.  These days, we do things much faster.  Maybe this is a good thing in many ways, and not in others.  Today we have the opportunity to take ourselves on our own designed apprenticeship with access to many masters and wisdom through both on and offline educational facilities.

Our wish is that this be your new beginning in all the ways of your choosing.  For those of you who fall in love with this style of body work and the pure loving essence that emanates from every session, there are many opportunities for you to advance beyond this introduction.  Although we are based in Australia, we have partner facilitators teaching already in many parts of the world and we have aspirations ourselves to travel and bring our live training courses to England, Europe, America, Africa and beyond.  Do let us know if you want more, wherever you are in the world, with enough people expressing interest, together we just might be able to make all our dreams come true.

There are four steps to get the best out of the videos in this training:

  1. Go through each lesson in order, read, watch and complete any other tasks given.
  2. Watch all the videos once through.
  3. Now watch all the videos again and at the same time physically copy the techniques as an air practice on an imaginary body or volunteer if you have one already, ideally over a massage table if you have one already.  No oil and if you have a volunteer they can remain clothed.
  4. Now watch all the videos again with a volunteer to actually practice on as an oil massage.

What you’ll need to complete step 4 as a complete practice:

  1. Yourself dressed in comfortable massage clothes that might get oil on them.
  2. Partner to practice the processes on (option to practice as an air practice on an imaginary body).
  3. Massage table with sheet covering (option to improvise on a table or bed).
  4. Sarong or sheet to cover your practice partner (sarongs are an ideal size and perfect if your space is warm, place a large bath sheet towel or similar size blanket over the sarong for additional warmth in cooler spaces).
  5. A large bath towel or blanket to cover your partner in-case it gets cold (have this handy even if it’s warm as your volunteers body might get cold mid massage).
  6. Massage oil (our preference is organic cold pressed coconut oil which can be purchased from most grocery or health food stores.  You can substitute with almond oil or grapeseed oil or even used a thicker balm/body butter for more friction).  Go natural, avoid any additional ingredients including essential oils unless you are trained in essential oil uses.
  7. A non toxic disinfectant spray that will not hurt your massage table (we use sphagnum moss spray from Tri Nature in Australia – https://trinature.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=sphagnum%20moss)
  8. A few spare hand towels, sarongs and sheets.

We mentioned above that you can improvise with a table or bed if you don’t have a massage table yet.  It’s a good idea however to start shopping around or organise to borrow a table at least while you are going through the training.  Here’s a link to our blog on how to choose the right massage table for you:
